Minister Denise Michele Scott

Associate Minister

Denise Michele Scott is a lifetime resident of Norwalk, CT.  She graduated from Norwalk Public Schools and holds an Associate’s degree from Norwalk State Technical College in Data Processing. She has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Bridgeport in Psychology and Human Services with a Certificate in Criminal Justice. In February 2023 she graduated from the Connecticut State Missionary Baptist Leadership School with her Diploma in Christian Leadership.

She has been employed at Stamford Hospital for over 16 years where she is a nurturing individual to patients in crisis. Denise is a wife to Joseph Scott II.  She is a mother of two, a grandmother of three and a friend to many. She is affectionately known as YaYa by the youth in Calvary.  YaYa means Grandmother in Greek but in Hebrew the word means graced by Yahweh, God is gracious.  She has lived up to her name by embracing all the young people that have walked through Calvary’s doors.  She is a witness to God’s grace and his ability to change hearts and save souls.

Denise grew up in Calvary Baptist Church and has become an active member of the church body for more than 40 years.  She was baptized on May 3, 1978 by Reverend SJ Williams and served in the following capacities as a youth through the Junior Usher Board, the Junior Missionaries, the Calvaryettees and the Youth Church School.

As an adult she has been a member of Brothers and Sisters in Christ, a community choir based in Norwalk.  She has been a leader in Calvary’s Combined Choirs, a Sunday School teacher, a Young Adult Usher, a Co leader of the Youth and Young Adult Program, and an advisor to the Youth and Dance ministries.

Her primary focus has been to mentor youth in the church through music, dance and bible study.  Denise has been a living example of the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16-20.  Her goal is to bring young people to the body of Christ and develop a closer walk with Christ.

Please continue to pray for and encourage Denise in her life long work in the ministry.
