Who We Are

 

We are a Bible - centered ministry founded by Rev. Samuel J. Williams in 1949.  Our purpose is essentially to bear witness to God's presence in this world.  We preach the message of His salvation and worship Him through our dynamic and Spirit filled worship services.  Our teaching ministry aims to equip each believer to be an effective disciple of Jesus.

Being a Baptist church, we observe the ordinances of believer's baptism and the Lord's Supper.  We are affiliated statewide with the Connecticut Missionary Baptist Convention and nationally with the American Baptist Churches U.S.A. and the National Baptist Convention, U.S.A., Inc.  Locally we work cooperatively with the churches of Norwalk through our Pastor's involvement with the Interdenominational Ministers' Fellowship and the Norwalk Clergy Association.

Through the ministries of Calvary, we attempt to minister to the whole man.  This includes spiritual nurture for his soul, as well as relief and sustenance for  his material, social and physical needs.
